I due, ormai amici, rintracciano il covo dei Comanceros e riescono a disperdere la banda. Per Regret c'è anche l'amore finale, e forse anche per Carter. Molti gli episodi suggestivi. quando Whitnam cerca di corromperlo, Wayne gli risponde: "Io ho quella che tu forse consideri una debolezza, sono onesto". Quando lo stesso Whitnam, dopo aver salvato tutti, gli chiede di lasciarlo andare l'uomo, della legge gli risponde: "Lo farei, ma ho fatto un giuramento ed è una cosa importante".".
