The 100 season 7 plot: What’s going to happen in The 100 season 7?
The 100 is based on Kass Morgan’s series of post-apocalyptic Young Adult novels, but it’s added so much to the mythology across its six seasons that it’s practically an original.
Rothenberg confirmed to TV-Line that season seven will focus on The Anomaly – as you’d expect, given the adult Hope twist.
“That reveal is obviously mind-blowing,” Rothenberg said. “The fact that Hope is now in her early twenties, when three days ago she was a fetus, does begin to imply some things about the Anomaly and about where we’re going.”
Rothenberg also told TV-Guide that “it’s a safe bet that we’ll see” Sheidheda again, and that there won’t be any time travel, the story picking up straight after the season fix finale.
“It’ll be our version of a happy ending,” he told Entertainment Weekly.
“I can safely say that we’re trying to say something more with season seven. The ending of a story always is the point of the story, the moral of the story. We have yet to reveal the moral of the story, but it will be revealed in season seven.
“And it won’t be, ‘People are horrible, we all suck, we’re willing to kill everyone and everything and do anything to survive.’
“There’s a higher purpose.”
Rothenberg went on to say that the creative team behind the series is ending the show on their terms.
“We legitimately were on the bubble [in terms of when it was going to end],” he said.
“I have for a while known thematically…what I want the ending to be. I knew what I wanted it to feel like, I knew what I wanted it to say. But it was about getting some assurances from the network that I could actually tell the story when I wanted to.
“It’s much easier knowing [how many episodes you’re going to get]. Had they…wanted a season eight, I was going to be out of here anyway.
“Getting to end on our terms, it’s a rare thing, and I’m grateful for it for sure.”
About THE 100:
The human race returns, after a 97-year exile in space, to a wildly transformed Earth…only to discover that the human race had never truly left. Clarke found herself forced to lead a band of disposable juvenile delinquents as they faced death at every turn: from a world transformed by radiation, from the fierce Grounders who somehow managed to survive in it, and, perhaps worst of all, from themselves. Unfortunately, their newfound sense of normalcy will be short-lived, and their lives will be changed forever, as threats both old and new test their loyalties, push them past their limits, and make them question what it truly means to be human. First, they fought to survive. Then, they fought for their friends. Now, they will fight for the human race.
