• 0:12 | So you’re lucky, no, I’m kidding.
• 0:14 | I mean obviously people
  take it for granted
• 0:16 | when they see that thing
  light up and it’s moving,
• 0:18 | but you are holding it
  in a lot of the scenes
• 0:20 | and have to give it life.
• 0:21 | What was that like?
• 0:22 | And how did you do it?
• 0:23 | – There was definitely a learning period.
• 0:25 | A lot of trial and error.
• 0:26 | Not only with like the
  practicality of the staff,
• 0:29 | like the light beam,
• 0:30 | how they were going to
  do visual effects after,
• 0:32 | but also just it as my scene partner.
• 0:36 | Hey, stop.
• 0:39 | I just need a minute, okay.
• 0:42 | Jeff was constantly having to remind me,
• 0:44 | like, “Brec, remember it’s animate.
• 0:46 | “It’s having reactions
  to things you’re saying.
• 0:48 | “Don’t let it just stand there.”
• 0:49 | – Wait.
• 0:51 | – React to it, make it move.
• 0:53 | When I got a new script,
• 0:54 | I would go in and I would
  highlight all my lines,
• 0:57 | and then I would go and highlight
• 0:58 | every time the staff was
  acknowledged in the script.
• 1:02 | And then I would go in and highlight
• 1:04 | where I thought the staff react
• 1:05 | to what was going on in the
  scene or what I was saying.
• 1:09 | So I feel like that helped
  me kind of keep it alive.
• 1:13 | It’s one of my favorite
  characters in the whole show.
• 1:19 | What are you doing?
• 1:21 | – Who are you talking to?
• 1:22 | – Stop.
• 1:23 | – Animating the staff by yourself,
• 1:25 | that’s very hard to do.
• 1:27 | Boy, I wouldn’t have
  thought of any of that.
• 1:30 | I would have just kept
  having the staff next to me
• 1:32 | and slapping me in the head.
• 1:33 | I’m going to be like, “what are you doing?
• 1:34 | “Just calm down.”
• 1:35 | – Don’t make me put
  you back in your crate.
