Rranscript Video:
0:01 | – Our other friends.
0:02 | Bring them here, now.
0:04 | (dramatic music)
0:06 | – Welcome to episode 709, “The Flock”,
0:10 | written by the great Alyssa Clark.
0:12 | Hi, Alyssa.
0:13 | – Hi, Jason!
0:14 | – I love your purple hair.
0:15 | It’s very on brand.
0:18 | – I haven’t had purple in a long time, but I found my home.
0:21 | – Yeah, it’s lovely.
0:22 | And directed by Amyn Kaderali, a first time for us.
0:26 | Great director, really, really wonderful guy.
0:30 | Can’t wait for you to see his work.
0:31 | – Yeah, we had a great time.
0:33 | We had some challenges, but I think Amyn really stepped up.
0:36 | – For all mankind.
0:38 | – [Disciples] For all mankind.
0:40 | – Echo and Octavia and Diyoza have become disciples.
0:44 | WTF?
0:46 | How did that happen?
0:48 | – I’m about to open your eyes to the truth of our cause.
0:51 | – This is really the story of how that happened.
0:55 | – Right, and they’re all in a place
0:57 | where they’ve been captured on this new planet,
1:01 | they don’t really know how it works,
1:02 | and this is the episode where we really get to learn
1:04 | about the world of Bardo.
1:06 | – The Bardoans lost their last war.
1:10 | This is all that is left.
1:13 | – They see what has happened outside the planet,
1:15 | which is really, really rad.
1:19 | – What happened to the Bardoans?
1:20 | What happened to this race of,
1:24 | for lack of a better word, aliens?
1:26 | What happened to them?
1:27 | And could that be the fate of all of us?
1:31 | Those are questions that are asked, I think,
1:33 | in this episode starting right from the top.
1:35 | – Right, I really like that it connects,
1:37 | it all connects to our bigger story,
1:38 | which is really exciting.
1:40 | – We need to break them of their bonds
1:41 | or they’ll keep choosing to fight for each other
1:43 | instead of all mankind.
1:45 | They need to have faith in the cause above all.
1:49 | – We explore the culture of the Disciples,
1:53 | how did their society evolve to have no emotion?
1:57 | They clearly are not a society
1:59 | of emotionally-expressive people.
2:01 | – And I think that’s really cool with our characters
2:03 | who are roiling with emotion.
2:06 | After finding out the fate of Bellamy,
2:08 | Echo, she carved her face in reaction
2:12 | to what happened to Bellamy.
2:13 | I had such a good time working with Tas.
2:16 | I love that she plays Echo,
2:19 | who’s this very stern, holds her emotions down
2:22 | except for anger and she herself
2:24 | as a person is just a laughing, dancing, hilarious person.
2:28 | – This season, I went to her and I said,
2:31 | “You’re gonna have to step up.
2:33 | You are going to, so much of the story is gonna now evolve
2:36 | around your mission to get to Bellamy.”
2:39 | And she just embraced it and elevated her game.
2:43 | She’s really, really incredible,
2:44 | I can’t wait for people to see this episode,
2:46 | but really the entire season.
2:48 | – I’m gone for half a day,
2:50 | and now the palace is surrounded
2:51 | with armed cogs and convicts?
2:53 | – Nikki has joined with Nelson
2:55 | and they’ve taken hostages in the great hall,
2:58 | and they want payback.
2:59 | They want revenge.
3:01 | – Sheidheda won’t just volunteer for this.
3:02 | – Well, then I guess we’ll have to persuade the bastard.
3:05 | – There is a moment in the episode with Sheidheda
3:09 | and with Indra having to work together right now on a plan.
3:13 | – I feel like this is the beginning
3:14 | of a beautiful friendship.
3:16 | – There was a moment when the look Adina gives,
3:20 | I think we all just broke out into applause,
3:22 | it was just incredible.
3:24 | I got shivers, you know.
3:26 | – They’re getting rowdy.
3:27 | We should get them out of here.
3:28 | – I got it handled.
3:29 | (man yelling)
3:31 | (tense music)
