Rranscript Video:

  • 0:00 | I’ve done so much
  • 0:01 | growing up—
  • 0:02 | Pun unintended,
  • 0:04 | pun semi-intended.
  • 0:05 | I’ve done so much
  • 0:06 | growing up on this set.
  • 0:07 | You know, Zoey, for a long time,
  • 0:08 | has been one year
  • 0:09 | So, in many ways, she was
  • 0:11 | kind of living out my life
  • 0:12 | before I even got there.
  • 0:14 | This has been ten years of my life,
  • 0:16 | so I’ve had the
  • 0:17 | fortunate opportunity to
  • 0:18 | grow up on the show.
  • 0:19 | I love how many people,
  • 0:21 | myself included,
  • 0:22 | have blossomed in this show.
  • 0:26 | This season lands the plane
  • 0:29 | with a couple storylines
  • 0:30 | that I think we’re all
  • 0:31 | excited to figure out
  • 0:32 | what’s going to happen
  • 0:33 | with those characters.
  • 0:34 | Surprises, I guess.
  • 0:35 | A lot of turns you wouldn’t see coming.
  • 0:39 | We also get to see some
  • 0:40 | familiar faces and make
  • 0:42 | a point of really showing off
  • 0:44 | the whole “grown-ish”
  • 0:45 | universe in these last some episodes.
  • 0:47 | Yeah!
  • 0:49 | I think by the end of this
  • 0:50 | season, the audience is
  • 0:51 | gonna have really
  • 0:52 | so many options to choose from
  • 0:54 | of who they relate to.
  • 0:56 | At the center of it all is
  • 0:57 | Marcus, is Andre, who is
  • 0:59 | about to graduate.
  • 1:00 | He’s closing this chapter
  • 1:01 | with a really nice place in life.
  • 1:03 | Or not.
  • 1:04 | Tune in.
  • 1:05 | There’s no shame in my game.
  • 1:06 | I’m hoping that the legacy of
  • 1:08 | six seasons of “grown-ish”
  • 1:10 | is that we were dripped down.
  • 1:14 | Self-acceptance is a huge thing,
  • 1:16 | and I think this show
  • 1:17 | does a great job of
  • 1:18 | showing all the different walks of life.
  • 1:20 | When we understand each other,
  • 1:22 | the hate goes away,
  • 1:23 | and there’s more love, and
  • 1:24 | there’s more understanding,
  • 1:25 | there’s more empathy,
  • 1:26 | and I think that that’s what
  • 1:27 | “black-ish,” “mixed-ish,” “grown-ish”
  • 1:28 | has done so well.
  • 1:30 | Seeing television and the
  • 1:32 | arts expand and move forward,
  • 1:34 | I’m happy that I
  • 1:35 | can even be a small part of that.
  • 1:37 | Stick to my plan, and you
  • 1:39 | won’t miss one iota of fun.
  • 1:41 | I want fans to really
  • 1:42 | remember to cherish your friends.
  • 1:45 | show is about friendship.
  • 1:47 | I hope that people take
  • 1:48 | away that you can build
  • 1:50 | your own family.
  • 1:51 | I hope that, as scary as it
  • 1:53 | may seem, people are
  • 1:54 | actually comforted by the
  • 1:56 | fact that everyone’s
  • 1:57 | uncomfortable and everyone’s
  • 1:59 | figuring it out.
  • 2:00 | And even these characters
  • 2:01 | that you’ve seen for years
  • 2:02 | are still figuring it out.
  • 2:04 | We’re all not grown yet.
  • 2:06 | We’re all grown-ish.
